André Pierre

André Pierre (1915–2005) was a Haitian painter and born in Port-au-Prince. His art references the Vodou religion as well as the output of the generation of painters before him, including Hector Hyppolite. He worked as a farmer outside the capital; later on, he was provided with a studio in Port-au-Prince and able to make a living from his art.
