Antoine Obin (1929–1992) was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, and attended his father Philomé Obin’s art school, where he learned to paint. In 1946, he enrolled at the Centre d’Art in Port-au-Prince and—like his father before him—made signal contributions to the Haitian Renaissance, which helped generate international attention for postcolonial discourses.
