August Walla (1936–2001) ranks among the most important Austrian artists. His creativity was universal, yielding an oeuvre that spans painting, photography, writing, performance, installation art, and other media. His works unfurl a complex private mythology. In 1983, he moved into the Haus der Künstler in Gugging. Walla’s art has been shown at the Albertina, Vienna, and elsewhere.
