Ilija Bosilj Bašičević (1895–1972) was a Serbian painter and farmer. His earliest works, from the 1950s, show the influence of Ivan Generalić’s pictures, but he went on to develop his own considerably different style. The writer Oto Bihalji-Merin promoted his output, which soon garnered national and international recognition. Pictures by Bosilj are in the collection of the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and other institutions.
