Lawrence Lebduska (1894–1966), who was born in Baltimore, Md., attracted notice with his unconventional depictions of animals. After apprenticing as a glass painter in Leipzig, he returned to the U.S. in 1912, and subsequently took up mural painting. His works are held by the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Smithsonian Museum, Washington, D.C., and other museums.
