Sénèque Obin (1893–1977) was born in Limbé, Haiti, and was an artist and political activist. He started painting when he was fifty-three. Like his brother Philomé Obin, he is regarded as an eminent representative of the Haitian Renaissance, which helped generate international attention for postcolonial discourses.
