Séraphine Louis (1864–1942), also known as Séraphine de Senlis, was a French painter. She variously made a living as a charwoman, shepherd, and, briefly, lay sister in Senlis before the art dealer Wilhelm Uhde discovered her gift and promoted her. Her oeuvre occupies a prominent position in the history of modern art in the twentieth century and has been shown at documenta, Kassel, and the Biennale di Venezia.
