Zuzana Chalupová (1925–2001) was a painter with Slovakian roots and one of the best-known representatives of the “Artists of Kovačica,” who were added to UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list in 2024. In the 1950s, Chalupová started embroidering fabrics as a member of a women’s association and made apparel and wall hangings. She later also painted in oil. The artist’s works combine elements of her upbringing with traditional folk culture, spirituality, and nature.
